Original WWII Japanese Imperial Navy Officer Dagger with Scabbard 20-181

Original authentic from the WWII time period and earlier. The dagger’s overall length including the scabbard is approx. 16 1/2 inches, and the blade measures approx. 8 1/4 inches. There is no loss to the blade tip and the edge has minor wear. The blade has dark spot with rust and tarnish to different spots on each side of the blade.  The cross guard, pommel and scabbard fittings have wear and tarnish. The sharkskin grip has wear with a small cherry blossom to each side. The surfaces of the grip show age toning but the grip is without chips or cracks. The scabbard is leather with gilt fittings at the throat and on the drag. The leather scabbard has some wear with scuffs. The scabbard has a push button release but the knife does not catch when the knife is put into the scabbard.
